MNN NEWSBRIEF - TWO ELVES DEAD IN DOWNTOWN GUN BATTLE

Two Elves were killed today in a tragic event in downtown Seattle at a restaurant called Run Run Shaw's. Gun violence has long plagued downtown, but to have two awakened brethern killed is a tragic event.

Authorities are pointing at "Yakuza", but it's really Lone Star's responsibility to keep these tragic events from happening. A number of other humans also lost their lives in the shooting.

A subsequent helicopter gunship chase of two vehicles ended violently as UCAS destroyed them, fortunately none of the victims in the savage UCAS attack were Metahumans.

A recent poll among Metahumans show that only 12% believe that Lone Star has the ability to keep them safe. 79% say that arming themselves is the safest, most effective way to stop violent attacks against the Metahuman community.

This is Gavin McConellroy, Metahuman News Network.

Oh wow. Two dead in Downtown. Someone write a news story, instead of just adding the number to this day's Body Lotto.

As for the Star keeping anyone safe? They couldn't keep a doughnut shop safe! (Literally, I saw it happen in a small town in Texas while there on business.). Honestly, I suggest calling a Pizza Joint rather than the Star. At least they'll show up in a reasonable amount of time!

The Humanis had come for my family once. Once. They didn't have enough alive to bury their dead when we were done. Arming yourself is the best way, indeed.

Have a gun, know how to use it, know how to use it better, wear it at all times. Have many guns, know how to use them, have them handy. Have lots of friends with guns, make sure they know how to use them, keep them close.

DocWagon/CrashCart are also good investments, but not everyone can afford those.

Serves the pansies right! Look at how this metascum news channel minimizes the deaths of 12 real people as "a number". They care so much for their two prancing butt-"brethern" that they overlook the real tragedy here. This kind of ultra-liberal politicizing of such a horrific event disgusts me.

I think it's actually quite telling that out of 12 deaths at the restaurant, only 2 of them were metahuman. Admittedly a small sample size and prone to large variation, but humans are less than 70% of the overall population - meaning that one would normally expect the deaths of 3-5 metahumans out of a truly random sample of 12.

But of course, we're looking at a Yakuza club, where orks and trolls just don't go. So naturally out of a sample size of 12 pre-screened for "no tusk chicks" you get approximately 10 humans, 2 elves. Just what you'd expect if you took a random sample of people who could pass for human.

I think it's interesting that the Metahuman "News" people are playing this up as a "elves die, we are sad", and not "racist establishment explodes, frag those guys" event. Because honestly, that's what we're seeing. No orks were killed because orks don't necessarily get food when they order it there so they go other places. Usually when one of those places goes up in smoke the Metahuman press goes into crocodile tears mode and starts running news articles about what a bunch of bastards the proprietors were and how they'll never get a chance to redeem themselves now that they are covered in fire.

So what can we learn from that? Most probably we can learn that one of those elves was fragging important and MNN doesn't want to piss off other important people by smirking at the smoking ruins.

People die. Get over it.

Want to join the dead, chummer? I doubt anyone would mourn you.

Damn straight they wouldn't. They'd celebrate all I've done.

Ya know I'v watched this station now and again, and I hear the same stuff that the humanis..I spell that right? ah well not important.

any how their propaganda sounds very much the same, I mean tone, angles you name it.

On the upside I hear both the members of this station and the local poli clubs buy their brown shirts from the same store. Guess they have more in commen then they think.

You people aren't paranoid enough and are freaking out over the trees and not the forest.

Let's do some metadata analysis.

Mani 7/18
Primary message:Metahumans aren't people.
Secondary message:Ignore the Yakuza

MNN 7/18
Primary message: Lonestar unable to keep metahumans safe
Primary message: Metahumans the only ones important
Secondary message: Ignore the Yakuza gun fight that killed them
Secondary message: UCAS military response excessive
Secondary message: General consensus is arming yourself is the best plan

Now, the inherent bias of Mani and MNN are obvious; both are racists on different side of the fence.

The truly interesting thing is both think the Yakuza is a non-issue. There's a sub message that is internally inconsistent that Lonestar is unable to control the violence and that their lethal response to those who perpetrated a massacre comprises a "savage attack." (MNN:A subsequent helicopter gunship chase of two vehicles ended violently as UCAS destroyed them, fortunately none of the victims in the savage UCAS attack were Metahumans)

Now, how do you classify Yakuza members who were just involved in a significant gun battle that kills at least 7 innocent people as "victims" ?

The Yak's got their fingers in deep to several people. You want to shut up Mani and the MNN, go find the Yak link.

Drek it all to slotting frag, I think you may be on to something there, Kilroy.

Compared to deriving coefficients of metaplanar sympathy, connecting the dots in this data is pretty simple.

Doesn't mean I wouldn't rather be busting my brain on that stuff rather than seeing my town melt down due to racists being manhandled by tattooed bully boys.

I'm crap-all with a gun but I'll gladly crunch data for those who aren't, if they're working against that kind of drek.

I am doing something about it, but there's only so much you can do with a gun for this kind of disease.

Yes, some high-velocity surgery is required, but it's a "Hearts and Minds" type of warfare. Something that very few people in the Shadows can do.

Not a knock at anyone here, it's just the nature of our business. Hooding is all well and good, but I've seen far too many runners get bitter after getting shived by the people they just helped.

You mean their are people we work for that won't toss our bodys into a ditch the moment its convenet?

Blah Blah blah. Heard it all before. Oh no! Yakuza killed some people, UCAS wasted some jerk. Who cares! This isn't news, it's just a way to keep the masses scared so they'll do what the corps and gov'mint want them to do.

Racism, reverse-racism... ultimately it all comes down to societal ills that everybody wants to blame everybody else for. It all comes down to Marx and Nietzsche. Whenever two groups compete for a resource, each will try to subjugate the other rather than work together. Conflict Theory... two hundred years and still going strong (and no, I'm not talking about communism... Marx was not a communist - Lenin just twisted Marx's theories for political ends - just like these phrenological humanis and hoity-toity Tir-elves are doing to anything that comes their way).

Oh yeah, and Nietzsche...
He who fights with monsters should be careful lest he thereby become a monster; when one gazes long into an abyss, the abyss also gazes into thee.

Semper Fidelus my friends - just as important in the shadows as it is in the marines if you ask me.

Got that right, Scope. Know who you can trust, and treat 'em like family. Hell, make them family if you can.

As for gazing into the Abyss, sometimes it starts the staring contest. All you can do is limit the amount of (meta)humanity that you lose in it...
